How can you tell if your lover has cheated on you? Paint a picture on her/his genitals and check that the image never changes. WTF?!? Read more below.
Pierre Subleyras, The Pack Saddle (Le Bat), first half of the eighteenth century, oil on canvas. Private Collection (another version is in the Hermitage, St Petersburg)
Jean de La Fontaine, the great 17th century French fabulist (he wrote fables), composed a tale about a suspicious husband who believes himself a cuckold. In The Pack Saddle, in order to protect his wife’s chastity the husband paints an image of an ass (donkey) over her nether region. One day when the husband is away, his friend, another artist, makes love to the woman and erases the image. Before doing so, however, the friend had carefully copied the ass onto a piece of paper seen lying on the floor. He then repaints the image, but adds a “pack saddle.” How embarrassing for the husband who would no doubt recognize the change and realize that his wife has just had a wild ride with another man!
